ESG

Making a difference, more than making a difference

Balance is the key concept in ESG, a set of principles that define whether a company is socially conscious, environmentally responsible and properly managed. It is also usually a personal goal, articulating aspects that often go beyond the individual.

Aware of this, we are attentive to the impact of our activities on the environment and the communities close to our operations. We believe that we are all part of the same story and that is why we invest knowledge and resources in initiatives that can leave a positive legacy for generations to come.

More than making a difference, we want to make a difference. This is the idea behind the Social Reforestation program. After identifying areas at geotechnical risk, we preferentially identify the communities around our construction sites, where we select young people aged 18 to 29 who can become agents of transformation in the areas where they live, through humanistic and professional development. The program aims to recover areas by planting native species, reforesting the slopes, as well as creating opportunities for work and income.

In operations, processes aimed at the conscious use of water and the use of natural resources help to reduce the environmental impact. At our sustainable construction site in Nova Lima (MG), for example, a photovoltaic system that generates energy using solar radiation replaces diesel oil in the supply of generators, thus reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, as well as providing an annual saving of more than 228 million liters of water, which would have been used to produce fuel, enough to fill 91 Olympic swimming pools.
